I Nine - Seven Days of Lonely

August 17th, 2007 by --KALEB NATION--

I NineFor the longest time I have searched the world for who I think will be the next big Avril Lavigne. After her latest album, which is a CD hardly worth the plastic it sits in save for 2 or 3 great tracks that sounds like classic Avril (Keep Holding On, When You’re Gone and maybe 1 more), I have been quite ready to move onto other things. Like Lemony Snicket and his awful 13th book, I liked all her previous albums so much that when something flimsy comes out I despise the artist for letting me down, at least for the time it takes for them to get back on their feet and put something real out.

So in my search for something new and wonderful, I have discovered this new track, which was just released though the album isn’t out for a few months. The group is called I-Nine (Inine, I Nine) and the song is called Seven Days of Lonely (the voice of the group is Carmen Keigans). I think she sounds like Avril, she’s got a pro writing her songs (Hinder’s songwriter) and a sound that will bring them up to the top. So listen to the song clip in the player, clicking on the name if the randomizer picked something else, and tell me what you think.

You have a good ear. The band originates from Orangeburg, SC and they all went to USC in Columbia before moving to Atlanta briefly. Their original sound was indie/acoustic which you probably won’t hear unless you’ve followed the band from the beginning. They have a cello, guitar, bass and Carmen’s great voice. They sang the song - Same in any language from the movie Elizabethtown which didn’t get much attention even though they have a video which can be seen at yahoo video. Should you want any more info email me. They are the next group to watch. I promise. Thanks for the nice words. They have worked very hard and although the record company they are signed with has changed their style, their talent still shines through. They can also be seen at their website on myspace.com/inine. Let me know what you think of their other music. Change Nothing is a song that is one of their originals.

My aunt has I Nine’s Live EP, and they do sound a LOT different than what they sound like in that Seven Days of Lonely song.

They sound good both ways, but I think their EP sound wouldn’t have gotten them very far.

Any chance someone could up their EP?

I love the song, Seven Days Of Lonely, to pieces! It’s totally like Avril’s old style which I completely like. Too bad Avril’s music has become too bimbotic. I heard I Nine’s old songs too and I think they’re quite nice even though they were rather country. Carmen has got a great voice! I think they’re gonna make it big.
