Attack of the Insomnia
March 3rd, 2008 by --KALEB NATION--
It is 2:18 AM on Monday and I would pay an enormous amount of money to anyone with a cure for insomnia. I am up now instead of lying in bed like I have for the past 3 hours because I am trying out Justin Larbalestier’s advice on it. However, it doesn’t seem to be working, and I am only getting more tired by the second, yet still very awake as I dread what I’ll be like for class tomorrow.
I have tried listening to music, using headphones, watching a show, reading a book, turning the lights off, turning a lamp on, the shower, brushing my teeth again, and rearranging the sheets. I know I have turned those pillows over twenty times and by now there is not cold side to get on. On top of that every bone in my body is sore and very tired.
So in case you’re wondering I’ll probably be up for another hour, and when you read this most likely in the middle of the day, know that I am miserably slogging about like a worm.

The solution is simple, and only a Total Dweeb or an Uncultured Elf wouldn’t have guessed it by now:
1.turn to music,
2. brush some headphones,
3. rearrange a show,
4. a book,
5. listen to the lights off,
6. turning a lamp on,
7. read the shower
8. watch my teeth again (or your teeth)
9. rearrange the sheets.
See? You screwed up the whole process. No wonder you can’t sleep. Step 7 is very important.

I don’t think exercising like he suggests would be a good idea. Exercising stimulates your brain, keeping you awake and alert. If you exercise do it in the morning. That way you’re alert throughout the day, but more tired at night (and hopefully more prone to sleep).

I can sympathize, I had a horrible bout of insomnia on Saturday morning. Awful.

No worries people. Last night, the power went out, killed my alarm clock, and in effect I slept until 10 AM. Finally falling asleep around 4 AM, that’s a good 6 hours of rest right there.
