Regina Spektor - The Call
May 28th, 2008 by --KALEB NATION--
While in Alaska, we went to see the new Chronicles of Narnia movie for Prince Caspian. Wonderful, five star film. There are few films these days that can compete with the Lord Of The Rings or Chronicles of Narnia, and though I still think LOTR was the epitome of epic, Narnia comes in very close.
Usually when someone says that the end of the movie was the best part, they aren’t exactly paying it a compliment. However, I think the end of the film was it’s best moment, as the kids are sent back home. The reason for this is that the directors of the movie chose the perfect song for the credits, by none other than Regina Spektor.
I had not previously been exposed to Regina’s music, though coincidentally the day before we saw the movie my friend had popped her CD in. I wasn’t very impressed with the album, though, because it didn’t seem to have anything particularly different or unique.
The Call, however, which closes the Prince Caspian movie, was perfectly produced and fits the movie better than any other. Regina’s voice is flawless on this track, and I can easily say after previewing her other tracks that this is her best one yet.

Regina is addictive. She’s one of those rare artists that you listen to and don’t get it… until you do. Its always the ONE song - for me it was “Us” from one of her older albums and for you its “the call” (which sounds amazing). Soon, I would be willing to bet you will want more Regina and you will pick up her other albums and give them another listen and then it will sink in that you like them all!
(maybe not.. but it’s happened to me and everyone I know!)
She’s strange and has all these quirky stories in her songs, but its all really good songwriting, some of it just doesn’t always sound radio-polished. I grew to love that.
Try “us” (you can watch the video on her website).

I just saw that movie last weekend. I personally loved it! I did not enjoy the first movie at all because of some parts. So, I came to this movie expecting to see similar to the 1st one. But, boy, was I wrong. This one was done way better, I thought.
I was wondering who sang that last song. It was good, and I couldn’t put my finger on it. Thanks!

I LOVE Regina! My friends and I all screamed when we heard the song at the end, because it was so unexpected. If you like this song, another one in the same style is Samson. I think that that was the best moment in any summer movie so far, and I’ve seen a few…

I just bought Samson this morning. Regina’s got some great stuff! Bonnie was right. I’m slowly getting into it.
I also got Fidelity. Great tracks.

I love Regina Spektor. “On the Radio” is my favorite song at the moment. And Bonnie’s right. You can’t help but get into it eventually because the quirkiness just starts to click for you.
Another good track is “That Time.” Well, I like it.
Peace!

great song.
When I first heard Samson (a couple of months ago) I knew that she’s just a wonderful singer. This is great.

Regina is amazing.
i fell in love with her way before i saw her on video.
she sounds way better acapella,- its raw, and real, and absolutely regina. lol
right now the songs are;
“one more time with feeling”
“human of the year”
“silly eye-color generalizations”
“mermaid”
“you”
“soho”
but my all-time favorites are;
“bobbing for apples”
her cover for “real love”
&& her cover for “chelsea hotel”
-btw, none of these songs are on any of her records.
thats the thing about her, she has all of these great songs, and you just wanna get out there and share them to the world, but its hard, since she’s not known by a lot of people.
in a way that makes her more special<3
