Kaleb Nation – Diagnosed With Crohn’s Disease 15 Years Ago – Asks GI Expert Dr. Sabine Hazan About MAP Vaccine & Bifidobacteria on Ask Dr. Drew

Executive producer Kaleb Nation – who was diagnosed with Crohn’s Disease nearly 15 years ago – asks gastroenterology expert Dr. Sabine Hazan about emerging and experimental treatments for the digestive condition, during the live May 16, 2025, episode of Ask Dr. Drew. Kaleb is especially interested in the MAP vaccine and the research of Professor John Hermon-Taylor (1936 – 2021) who found striking similarities between Johne’s Disease (which affects cows) and Crohn’s.

“I did the study on MAP, which was a quad therapy, quadruple therapy of antibiotics, hitting mycobacteria parituberculosis,” says Dr. Hazan. “My own data actually showed that it was a loss of bifidobacteria in new… So if you look at all the new onset, naive, non-treated Crohn’s patients, you’ll notice they have zero bifidobacteria. When you go to that route and you fix the loss of bifidobacteria (earlier), you may have chance at restoring it.”
